What’s This Blog About?

We’re big fans of the Imaginera software suite from Amtech Software and have been using it to run our businesses for few years.  Along the way, we’ve learned a bunch about the software and how it works.  It’s time to share!

We intend to look at interesting ways to get the software to conform to the way you do business, how to expand its functionality in simple ways, and how to extract knowledge from the big pile of data it collects.

Our blog’s name uses the word “hack” in the manner of getting software to do what we intend.  Sometimes, that functionality isn’t baked into the software and thus, we “hack” it in.  We have no ill intent.  This isn’t about making an end run around official support channels or about disparaging anyone.  Simply, we sometimes have a need to extend the software beyond it’s out-of-the-box abilities and take it into our own hands to make it happen.

This blog’s authors have no relationship with Amtech Software beyond being end-users.  This isn’t sponsored by, run by, or contributed to by any Amtech Software employees.

The tricks and information shared on this blog are YOUR responsibility to understand.  Amtech Software won’t support you if you break things.  As much as possible, we’ll try to outline exactly what we intend to accomplish, how we do it, and how it will impact the rest of the software.  If the information is over your head, don’t use it.  Even if you DO understand it, we encourage you to try things out in a test system before introducing it to your production systems.
